Before You Start
Before we dive into keyword research and schema markup, let’s make sure you’re set up for success.
Recommended Courses
These courses give you foundational skills that make everything in this course easier:
- Copywriting for Course Creators — Writing headlines that convert is the same skill as writing title tags that rank. This course teaches both.
- YouTube for Course Creators — YouTube SEO and blog SEO are complementary strategies. Your videos can rank in Google Video results while your blog posts rank in regular results.
- Content Machine — Once you write a blog post, you need to repurpose it. This course gives you the complete repurposing system.
What You Don’t Need
You don’t need a WordPress site. Astro, GoHighLevel, Squarespace, Teachable — any platform that lets you publish content works. Some platforms make certain SEO tasks easier than others, but the principles are universal.
You don’t need expensive tools. Google Keyword Planner and Google Search Console are free. You can do effective SEO with zero paid tools. Tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush accelerate your research, but they’re not required to start.
You don’t need to be technical. If you can write a blog post, you can optimize it for search. The technical SEO basics (title tags, meta descriptions, headers) are writing tasks, not coding tasks.
The Mindset Shift
Most course creators approach marketing as “what should I post today?” That’s a social media mindset — reactive, ephemeral, exhausting.
SEO requires a different mindset: “What question is my ideal student asking, and how can I create the best answer on the internet?”
That’s a curriculum design question. As a course creator, you already know how to structure learning experiences. SEO is just applying that skill to search queries instead of syllabi.
Your Commitment
SEO compounds, but it’s slow. Expect three to six months before you see meaningful results from your first posts. The course creators who win with search are the ones who keep publishing consistently while everyone else quits after two months.
If you can commit to publishing one to two blog posts per week for the next year, this course will give you everything you need to build a search engine that drives course sales on autopilot.
