What Comes Next
You made it through the jargon. Here’s the short version of everything you just learned:
The Cheat Sheet
Platform terms: LMS = course platform. SCORM/xAPI = tracking standards (you probably don’t need them). White-label = your brand, not theirs.
Course structure: Modules contain lessons. Drip = release on a schedule. Evergreen = always available. Cohort = group starts together.
Instructional design: ADDIE = the formal process. Backward design = start with the end. Bloom’s Taxonomy = push students beyond memorizing into doing.
Assessment: Formative = during learning (quizzes). Summative = at the end (final exam). Rubrics = scoring guides for subjective work.
Integrations: API = tools talking to tools. Webhooks = automated notifications. Zapier = connects tools without code. Native integrations > Zapier.
Accessibility: Captions on every video. Alt text on every image. Proper headings. Good color contrast. That’s 80% of it.
Where to Go From Here
Now that you know the vocabulary, these courses make more sense:
- Plan Your Course — uses backward design and Bloom’s Taxonomy without calling them that
- Pick Your Platform — comparing LMS options, now that you know what an LMS is
- Create Videos Without Being on Camera — now that SCORM makes sense when we mention Colossyan’s export options
- Create Course Materials That Get Results — applies formative assessment and learning objectives to your worksheets and quizzes
