Colossyan for Training Videos

HeyGen is great for individual course creators. But if your course needs to live inside a learning management system, support multiple languages, or meet corporate training standards, Colossyan is the better choice.

When Colossyan Beats HeyGen

Three scenarios where Colossyan is the obvious pick:

1. You need SCORM export. SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is the standard format for learning management systems. If your course is going into Moodle, Canvas, TalentLMS, or GoHighLevel’s course builder, you need SCORM to track student progress, quiz scores, and completion certificates. HeyGen doesn’t export SCORM. Colossyan does.

2. You need automatic translation. Colossyan translates your script and generates video in 70+ languages with one click. HeyGen supports about 40. If international reach is part of your strategy, Colossyan saves you from managing separate translation workflows.

3. You want two-presenters-in-one-video. Colossyan can place two avatars in the same video, having a conversation about your topic. Think of it as a mini-podcast with faces. This format is surprisingly effective for making complex or dry topics engaging.

The Colossyan Workflow

Step 1: Pick a Template or Start Fresh

Colossyan offers templates for training, onboarding, compliance, and education. Pick one that matches your course style, or start from a blank canvas.

Step 2: Choose Your Avatar(s)

Select from Colossyan’s avatar library, or upload a reference clip to create a custom avatar (same process as HeyGen — 2-minute clip, wait for processing).

If you want the two-avatar discussion format, select two avatars. Colossyan assigns different sections of your script to each presenter, creating a back-and-forth conversation.

Step 3: Write or Import Your Script

Paste your script directly, or upload a PDF/article and let Colossyan convert it into a video script. The PDF-to-video feature is useful for turning existing training materials into video content without rewriting everything.

Step 4: Select Voice and Language

Choose from Colossyan’s voice library, or connect your own cloned voice. Select your output language — Colossyan handles the translation and voice generation in one step.

Step 5: Customize and Brand

Add your background, text overlays, logo, and color scheme. Colossyan supports custom brand kits on higher plans, so you can lock in your visual identity across all videos.

Step 6: Export

Here’s where Colossyan shines. Your export options:

  • MP4 video — Standard video file, works everywhere
  • SCORM 1.2 / SCORM 2004 — Plug into any LMS with full tracking
  • Auto-translate — Generate the same video in additional languages with one click

The Two-Avatar Discussion Format

This deserves special attention because it’s unique to Colossyan and solves a real problem: how do you make boring content engaging without a live presenter?

Instead of one avatar lecturing for 10 minutes, you create a dialogue:

AVATAR A: "So what happens when a student drops off after module three?"

AVATAR B: "That's actually the most common drop-off point. And there are three reasons..."

This format works for:

  • Compliance training (one avatar asks the questions employees are thinking, the other answers)
  • Complex topics (break it into a Q&A instead of a lecture)
  • Module summaries (two avatars recap the key points in a conversational way)

It takes more script writing — you’re writing dialogue instead of a monologue — but the engagement payoff is worth it for the right content.

Pricing

  • Starter: $27/month (about 10 minutes of video)
  • Pro: $85/month (longer videos, more avatars, brand kits)
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing for teams and high volume

The entry price is similar to HeyGen ($27 vs $24). The difference is what you get for that price: SCORM and auto-translation are included in Colossyan’s base tier. With HeyGen, those features aren’t available at all.

When to Use Each Tool

  • Building a course for your own platform? → HeyGen (simpler, faster, more templates)
  • Building for an LMS or corporate client? → Colossyan (SCORM, tracking, enterprise features)
  • Need both? → Use both. Produce your course videos in HeyGen, export your LMS modules in Colossyan. Many creators use different tools for different parts of their business.

Keep going — you're making progress through Create Videos Without Being on Camera.
