Quizzes and Assessments
GoHighLevel includes two separate assessment tools: a quiz builder inside your courses for student evaluation, and a standalone lead-generation quiz builder for capturing prospect information. This lesson covers the course quiz and assignment features.
Adding a Quiz
Open your course, navigate to the module where you want the quiz, and click “Add Content.” Select Quiz from the dropdown.
The quiz editor opens. Enter a title and optionally upload a thumbnail image. To enforce a passing requirement, enable “This quiz requires passing grade” and set the percentage.
Building Questions
Click to add your first question. Choose single-choice (one correct answer) or multiple-choice (students select all that apply). Type your question text, add answer options, and mark the correct answer(s).
You can add explanations to each question. These display to students after they submit — but only when the passing grade requirement is disabled. If you require a passing grade, students see only their score and which answers were correct or incorrect.
Pass and Fail Messages
Customize what students see based on results. Write a pass confirmation message (celebratory, encouraging) and a fail confirmation message (encourages review and retake). Students can retake quizzes without restrictions and view their previous submissions.
Adding an Assignment
Click “Add Content” and select Assignment instead of Quiz.
Enter a title and optional thumbnail. The instructions field includes formatting tools — use headings, bold, numbered steps, or bullet points for clarity.
Upload template files (.docx, .pdf, .pptx) for students to use as starting points. These download automatically when students access the assignment.
For exercises that do not require evaluation — self-reflection, optional practice — toggle the ungraded option. Students submit but you do not need to score each one.
Set a confirmation message that displays after submission. Confirm receipt and set expectations for feedback.
Assessment Analytics
Navigate to Memberships > Analytics > Assessments to view performance data.
- Filter by product (course) or result status (Processing, Passed, Failed)
- Click the eye icon next to any submission to view individual answers and scores
- Export as CSV for external analysis — small datasets download instantly; large exports arrive via email with a secure 24-hour download link
When to Use Each
| Assessment Type | Best For |
|---|---|
| Quiz | Knowledge checks, comprehension tests, certification gates |
| Assignment | Homework, project submissions, practical exercises, portfolio pieces |
Many courses combine both — quizzes after each lesson for quick checks, with a capstone assignment at the end for deeper assessment.
