Five Ways Students Get Enrolled

GoHighLevel offers five enrollment methods, each serving a different scenario:

1. Purchase-based — Automatic when someone buys through a GHL checkout. Payment confirmed equals access granted.

2. Form submission — For free courses used as lead magnets. Create a form in Sites > Forms, connect it to your course under “Action After Submit,” and choose “Grant Access to Course.” Anyone who submits gets immediate access.

3. Tag-based — Build an automation that applies a tag like “enroll-fundamentals-course.” Set your course to grant access when that tag is present. This lets you build complex enrollment logic: a prospect completes a sequence, hits a score on an assessment, or replies to an email, and the workflow applies the tag that unlocks the course.

4. Date-based — For cohort models. Set a start date in course settings and students gain access on that date regardless of when they purchased. Groups move through material together.

5. Manual — Open a contact, click Memberships in their profile, and assign course access directly. Use for VIP clients, beta testers, or special situations.

The Lead-Gen Quiz Builder

The Quiz Builder at Sites > Quizzes serves a different purpose than course assessments. This is a lead generation tool.

Create a quiz with a title, description, and cover image. Add questions with single-choice, multiple-choice, yes/no, or short-answer types. Enable scoring to assign point values, or use categories to bucket respondents into types (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced, or by interest area).

Branching Logic

Use the “Jump To” feature on any answer to skip irrelevant questions based on previous responses. A respondent who says they have no email list skips the advanced email questions. Someone who says they are advanced skips the basics.

CSV Bulk Upload

Building a long assessment? Upload questions in bulk using a CSV file instead of creating them one by one. Format your spreadsheet, upload, and all questions populate into the quiz.

CRM Field Mapping

In quiz settings, map total score or category scores to custom fields on the contact record. This data becomes searchable and segmentable throughout your CRM.

The Power Workflow

The “Quiz Submitted” trigger in Automation starts sequences based on results. Build this workflow:

  1. Prospect takes quiz
  2. Automation reads their score
  3. Applies a segment tag based on results
