Access Levels and Tiers

Most successful course businesses offer multiple ways to buy. A student who cannot afford $497 might jump at $197. Someone ready to invest might want the $997 VIP tier with coaching. GHL handles this through separate offers linked to different access configurations.

Building a Tier Structure

A common three-tier structure:

Starter ($97): Core course modules only. Self-paced, no community, no live components. For budget-conscious buyers.

Complete ($197): Core course plus bonus modules, downloads, and community access. Your recommended option — highlight it on your sales page as best value.

VIP ($497): Everything in Complete plus coaching calls, direct access, or implementation reviews. Limited spots create urgency.

Each tier is a separate offer in GHL. Create three offers under Memberships > Courses > Offers, each linked to the appropriate courses.

Course Bundling

Link multiple courses to a single offer. In offer settings, add multiple products. When someone purchases, GHL enrolls them in every linked course simultaneously.

Bundle strategy: combine your flagship course with a smaller prerequisite and a supplementary workshop. Price the bundle 20-30% less than buying separately. This increases average order value while the buyer feels they got a deal.

Using Tags for Access Control

Every purchase automatically applies tags based on your offer settings. Add tags like “course-buyer,” “vip-tier,” or “bundle-purchase” in the offer’s “Apply Tags” field.

These tags become triggers in Automation:

  • Tag “vip-tier” triggers an invite to a private community channel
  • Tag “course-buyer” starts your onboarding email sequence
  • Tag “bundle-purchase” sends a welcome message listing all their new courses

Navigate to Automation > Workflows to build these sequences. Set the trigger as “Tag Applied” and add action steps for emails, notifications, or additional tags.

Access Duration

In your offer settings, define how long access lasts:

  • Lifetime: Access never expires. Reduces purchase friction. Most common default.
  • Annual: One year, then auto-renews if subscription. Works for courses with yearly updates.
  • Fixed period: Ends after a set number of days. Useful for cohort programs with defined timelines.
